FLAG  will present the financial instrument for clean energy FLAG-FICET at the National Meeting of Municipal Financiers. The largest and longest-running expert event of the National Municipal Financiers' Association of the Republic of Bulgaria will be held from June 12 to 14 in the Golden Sands resort. The forum is aimed at municipal financiers, accountants, tax experts, internal auditors, financial controllers, deputy mayors with responsibility for budget and finance, municipal councilors from budget committees, etc.

Nadya Dankinova, Executive Director of FLAG, will take part in the plenary session on the first day, and the main focus of her participation will be the new financial instrument for the transition to clean energy for public authorities, which provides an opportunity for grant-free technical support for project preparation and an investment loan from FLAG for their implementation. The structure of the financial instrument, eligible final recipients, the scope of technical support, and the indicative parameters of the investment loan will be presented within the event. Emphasis will be placed on the opportunities for complementary financing under clean energy transition schemes supported by the FP7, NTEF and other programmes with European and national funds.

The FLAG-FICET financial instrument has been developed within the framework of the FLAG - Financial instrument for clean energy transition (FLAG FICET) project, which aims to support municipalities in Bulgaria in preparing to meet the challenges of climate change mitigation and adaptation in the next decade through investments in energy efficiency and clean energy. The project has been approved for funding under the LIFE programme, scheme LIFE-2021-CET-PDA: Disruptive PDA – Technical Assistance to advance market boundaries for sustainable energy investments.

FLAG is a major participant for another year in the National Meeting of Municipal Financiers - an event that has established itself over the years as a place for the exchange of ideas and practices, for professional and expert debate with representatives of the central government, for the formulation of policies and the search for new solutions for the development and improvement of the management of local finances. This year, the focus of the discussions will be on the specifics and challenges in the implementation of Budget 2024; European funds in municipal budgets; the effectiveness and control of public funds.
