On 5.12.2024, a third FLAG-FICET financing agreement was signed at the FLAG office. On behalf of the Devin Municipality, the agreement was signed by the mayor of the city - Zdravko Ivanov, and on behalf of the FLAG Fund - by the executive director Nadya Dankinova.
FLAG provides complementary financing for the implementation of the project "Rehabilitation and modernization of municipal infrastructure - outdoor artificial lighting systems in the city of Devin and 8 villages part of the Devin Municipality", financed by the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, component 4 "Low-carbon economy", investment C4.I3 "Support for energy-efficient street lighting systems". For the purposes of the application, technical support has been provided under the LIFE21-CET-PDA-FLAG FICET project, financed under the LIFE program of the European Union.
The activities envisaged under the project include the implementation of energy efficiency measures for the rehabilitation and modernization of municipal infrastructure - outdoor artificial lighting systems in the city of Devin and 8 villages part of Devin municipality. Currently, the street lighting system in the villages in Devin municipality, included in the energy efficiency audit, does not meet the required standards. The activities include the supply and installation of LED street lighting fixtures (2,254 pieces), LED park lighting fixtures (including battery and solar panel - 24 pieces) and the integration of an intelligent lighting control system.
According to the Energy Efficiency Audit of Outdoor Artificial Lighting Systems of Devin Municipality for the replacement of street lighting with new LED fixtures, indirect benefits will also be realized under this project, in the form of saved CO2 emissions. According to the calculations made, the estimated annual reductions in CO2 emissions from the replacement of street lighting equal 1,048.33 tons per year.
