Fund FLAG provides complementary financing for the implementation of seven energy efficiency projects for buildings, partially financed with grants from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism and the National Eco Trust Fund. On behalf of the Municipality of Stara Zagora, the agreement was signed by the mayor of the city - Zhivko Todorov, and on behalf of FLAG  - by the executive director Nadya Dankinova. For the purposes of the application, technical support was provided under the LIFE21-CET-PDA-FLAG FICET project, financed under the LIFE program of the European Union. Zhivko Todorov expressed his gratitude for the long-term fruitful cooperation with FLAG.

The projects envisage the implementation of energy efficiency measures for the buildings of the "Culture and Art Complex" (former Pioneer House), the "Rodina - 1860" community center ("Rodina" library), 11th Primary School "Nikolay Liliev", a training sports hall, as well as the building of the "Beroe" stadium, the administrative buildings of "Trolleybus and Bus Transport" EOOD and the Municipality of Stara Zagora. Six of the projects have been approved for funding with the BGF under Procedure BG-RRP-4.020 "Support for sustainable energy renovation of public building stock for administrative services, culture and sports" of the National Recovery and Resilience Facility, and envisage achieving class A or class B of the buildings, as well as saving at least 30% primary energy.

The project for the modernization of the educational environment of 1st Primary School "Nikolay Liliev" is  implemented with grant support under the Subprogramme "Energy Efficiency of Municipal Schools and Kindergartens" (EEOG) to the Climate Investment Program (CIP) of the National Eco Trust Fund. Under the specific scheme, FLAG provides the mandatory co-financing of 30% of the costs of energy saving measures (ESM), as well as financing for other complementary activities. The scheme was announced jointly with National Eco Trust Fund, as part of a sustainable partnership and an expression of mutual commitment to promote the clean energy transition to local authorities.

The planned activities under the projects, related to the introduction of energy efficiency measures in seven buildings, owned by the Municipality of Stara Zagora, have a significant contribution to climate change mitigation. The total expected reduction in CO2 emissions as a result of their implementation is estimated to amount 1,085.36 tons/year.
