On April 4, 2023, a forum dedicated to "Integrating measures for mitigation and adaptation to climate change" was held in Sofia, organized by NAMRB, as a national partner of the cooperation mechanism within the framework of the Convention of Mayors - the largest movement in the world of cities and regions taking climate and energy action. The Convention of Mayors was established in 2008 by the European Commission to support cities and regions to achieve EU climate and energy goals.

The forum focused two sessions on the national context of measures and actions related to climate change and the achievements of Bulgarian and foreign local and regional authorities in adapting to the changes. The main goal is to support local and regional authorities in the development and implementation of climate change adaptation strategies and to stimulate the exchange of good practices between cities, municipalities and regions.

The possibilities for financial support of climate change adaptation measures that can be provided within the framework of the FLAG-FICET project were presented by the project coordinator Lyubomir Tsarev. The project, which started on October 1, 2022, aims to develop and promote an innovative financial instrument within the framework of the FLAG Fund to support municipal investments in clean energy through cooperation and consultation with a wide number of stakeholders.

Other participants in the seminar were the Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Reneta Koleva, the Mayor of the Municipality of Gabrovo and National Ambassador of Bulgaria to the Convention of Mayors Tanya Hristova, the Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality Desislava Bileva, the Chairman of the Board of NTEF Penka Mollova-Smolenova , Vyara Koleva - director of the "Ecology" Directorate in the Plovdiv Municipality and Ivaylo Trendafilov - head of the country's first energy office, established by the Burgas Municipality.
